subject: Are There Any Simple Diets? [print this page]

If you are looking for an easy way to lose weight then that is harder than you would think. You might not think it, but there are actually some really effective diets for sale at the moment which can help you to lose weight if you follow them. However I think that the ease with which you can follow the diet is crucial to the success you will have on it. The sad fact is that complicated diets seem like they should work better, which is why some diets have complicated plans for you to follow where you eat specific amounts of calories every day or vary your carb and protein intake etc, but while it may sound good then you won't stick to it for long as it will be too much effort.

You would be much better off instead with a basic, simple diet. There is one called Eat Stop Eat which has come onto the market and all it asks you to do is to cut down the amount of junk food you eat all week, and then take a few days per week where you fast and don't eat anything. While that may sound dangerous then it is discussed in detail in the book along with the science behind why the author thinks it is the best way to diet. The average person should be getting about 2,000 calories per day to fuel their body, although most of us eat far more than that! So by cutting out just one day a week of food then you save yourself a substantial amount of calories (it needs to be done safely though so read the guide first).

A diet which is probably even easier than the one above is any meal replacement diet, like the Medifast Diet which is discussed a lot on weight loss forums and is incredibly popular. As these diets give you special food to replace some of your regular meals each day then you will find they cut a lot of stress out of dieting. Normally trying to choose each meal to make sure it complies with the requirements of your diet is a complete hassle. There are a lot of different types of diet in this category and they all have different foods for you to eat, some will give you real food in specially sized portions, others will ask you to just drink milkshakes or eat cookies. However the one thing which stays the same is that the meals will be extremely low in calories yet contain a lot of vitamins and minerals to keep you healthy.

They all usually follow the same structure, but there might be a tiny bit of variation from one to the other, the idea though is to replace all but one of your meals in a day with their food, then you cook a normal meal to round the day off. They usually give you recipes to follow in the evening, but any small and healthy meal will do the job and keep your calorie intake low, just make sure you don't pig out and eat a lot of junk food or you will undo all your hard work during the day.

So as you can see there are a couple of different ways you can lose weight without much fuss. Don't take my word for it on these diets though, spend a little time researching any diet that you plan on buying. Not only will that help you uncover what they actually ask you to do in the diet, but you can also find out what people who have been on it thought about it, and if they didn't like it then what other diets they do like.
