subject: Fuel Price Is Ridiculous [print this page]

When I was taking my driving lessons, I could not wait to pass and buy a car for myself. Finally after failing two tests, I passed on my third and I was the happiest person alive. Lucky for me I did not have to wait too long for my first car, as my dad bought me one for passing my driving test.

The first few months was great, I loved every minute of driving but then it became a chore for me, as I somehow ended up becoming a chauffeur for my family. Getting stuck in traffic is the horrible, I hate it when other drivers try to cut in front and when they horn at me even though they know I cannot move forward because of the cars.

The worst part of having my own car is I have to spend a lot of money just to keep it on the road. Not only do to I have to pay for the MOT, insurance, road tax, service and everything that goes wrong with it but I also have to pay for the fuel that gets my car from A to B.

With the fuel prices on the rise every day, it is becoming very difficult for me to afford my own car. I even have to leave it at home during the week and use public transport to get to work, as I just cannot afford to fill up my car with fuel.

Very recently I discovered a service station not far from where I live that has the cheapest fuel in Northampton, and I have been going there regularly to full tank my car because I know one day soon the price will go up. It now costs me over 50 pounds to fill up my tank. This is not ideal as I do a lot of long journeys going down the see friends of the south coast. Sometimes it is not always an option to car share and there is a lot of impracticalities for getting a train or the bus. Really though, if I have passed my test and got a car it should not be the petrol process that are keeping people off the road. Getting too and from work each week seems a massive spend and that is where I am supposed to be earning my money for my luxuries in life not just the money that will get me in and out from there every day.
