Makarov on the other hand has displayed an immensely strong magic spell that surpasses most, if not all magic that has been shown so far. The only spell on par with Fairy Law would be Grimoire Law, for obvious reasons. There's a paradox about the strongest spear versus the strongest shield. Can a spear that can piece anything be able to go through a shield that can block anything? From what I remember though, someone solved this problem mathematical. If both have a strength and defence of 1, then logically 1 - 1 = 0, therefore the spear would win in the end. So I would guess that Fairy Law > Fairy Sphere.
Which i believe is going to be casting speed, Whilst Makarov and hades can cast at a relatively fast speed, If A person like Natsu Were to attewmpt to cast it, you would have to believe his lower Magic Level would mean a longer cast time, Same for Cana with Fairy Glitter she had to prepare the spell. So a "non-Cocky aggressive" Enemy could put a stop into Fairy law before its cast. Atleast I believe that would be the weakness, Im certain we will see a weakness in Fairylaw in the time skip, Because its too strong of a spell just to leave open ended.
It seems to have a limited area of effect, so since he can't control the magic I would think that the aoe range can't be increased/decreased. Any mage with long range magic spells can hit him from far away, making his spell as useful as Racers. The death spell is a good spell, but can be beaten if people know its' weaknesses.But Dragonslayer magic duh...its based on the emotion of the slayer.Not to mention imagine what Natsu could do with Lighting Fire Dragon mode that makes alot of possiblities for Natsu, like moving at the speed of light.But i guess hands down has to be Fairy Law since it completely elmimates whomever you see as enemy but who knows it may be Fairy Glitter since we dont know what it does. We know that Zeref wouldn't just stand in the one place though. He obviously has other stuff up his sleeve that would allow him to get closer, he is the most evil wizard of all time afterall. Though thinking about it, would Fairy Law cancel that out, like Makarov evaporated Jose's attacks when they fought. Maybe Fairy Law is the most powerful magic.
I really don't see how Zeref managed to control his magic in the time span of him being on Tenrou Island, to the time he boarded the GH ship. I'm guessing that after all this time, Zeref suddenly is able to control his magic, the GH ship had some protective spells against Zeref's magic, or there are certain exceptions to Zeref's death spell such as only affecting people with good hearts, or not being able to affect people with evil hearts.
