subject: All The Way For Electronic Cigarettes [print this page]

Smokers understand that going all the way for electronic cigarettes is the only viable option for them. And doing so is not even difficult to do, given the clear consensus among long time smokers who claim that electronic cigarettes deliver a richer, more exciting, and more satisfying experience compared with traditional tobacco products as well as their medically-oriented substitutes such as nicotine patches and gums.

Electronic cigarettes enable smokers to continue engaging their preferred lifestyle without absorbing the harmful--potentially fatal--chemicals that are found in tobacco smoke. This is a radically different approach as compared with the palliatives and substitutes just mentioned, which attempts to wean away smokers from their nicotine addiction with the hope that smokers will eventually give up their habit. Based on research data, these substitutes have had limited success. The fact is, smoking as a habit is more of a lifestyle preference and many smokers will continue the habit in spite of knowing its terrible consequences.

What electronic cigarettes do is to reconstruct the habit and transform it into a healthier and more exciting lifestyle. Electronic cigarettes accomplish this by simulating the experience and feel of tobacco smoking without using the components that are responsible for the terrible health damage tobacco smoking causes. These components of traditional smoking have been accurately identified: tobacco, and the process of burning.

Tobacco contains nicotine and other chemicals. In its original plant state, tobacco does not constitute a significant health threat. However, its cultivation, curing and packaging into cigarettes allow the accumulation of chemicals such as those found in fertilizers and industrial complexes. As a result, the processed tobacco leaves in cigarettes contain quite a number of toxic chemicals that are not fit for human consumption.

In addition to the already harmful tobacco content, the process of burning induces chemical reactions that generate at thousands of chemicals in tobacco smoke. Around 300 or so of these chemicals are toxic, some of which are known carcinogens.

In contrast, electronic cigarettes do away with both tobacco and the process of burning. Instead, electronics cigarettes use e-liquid in place of tobacco, and heating instead of burning. E-liquid is a fluid made up of water, food flavorings, and propylene glycol or vegetable glycerine. All of these substances are safe for human consumption. To heat the e-liquid, electronic cigarettes use a battery-powered component known as the atomizer. The atomizer heats up the e-liquid each time the user presses a button switch. The heat causes the e-liquid to turn into vapor, which closely resembles tobacco smoke. However, the vapor produced from the e-liquid does not contain or produce any of the harmful chemicals found in tobacco smoke.
