There are many advantages and benefits for an individual student to enjoy once they choose to study abroad and the following are amongst them.
a) Traveling to Another Country. For a student, being able to travel to another country is a learning experience in itself. Being in another country in itself allows you, the student to learn about the culture, other people and places. In traveling, one also learns about how one reacts to new stimulus, new language and new experiences;
b) Learning from other Educational Systems. Since the major reason for the travel is earning a degree or units in the foreign country's educational system, going to school and attending class would be rewarding experience for the individual. Depending on where you enroll in the world, you would be learning about different theories or paradigms regarding global situations. The ideal situation once you have completed the learning curriculum is having two points of view: from the school you learned from and from your experiences back home;
c) Meeting New People. Another way of learning is through experiences with other fellow students and the academics in the school. You would be able to learn about the culture as well as new schools of thought. Also by interaction with activities locally, such as school activities as well as extra-curriculars would help give a holistic learning while studying abroad;
d) Learning about Yourself. Being alone in another country in new surroundings can provide so many learning experiences for the individual student. Living far from home in new surroundings, eating different food and living with others can help the individual mature and grow both intellectually and emotionally;
e) Coming Home as a Solver. Once the academic study is completed and the degree or units earned, coming home would not end the learning for the individual student. At this stage, all the lessons learned would be applied in real life, giving the individual a leg up in the home country's job market. With all the knowledge obtained, you can become a problem solver for issues back home.
As can be seen, studying abroad provides so much learning for the individual, not only academically but emotionally as well intellectually. From day one of traveling to the daily schedule at school, even the extra curricular activities all would lead up to learning and improving one's self while away from home. By the time the student comes home, they would be better equipped in finding solutions as well providing direction for the future.
