subject: Ideas For Uk Weekend Breaks [print this page]

Our busy working lives sometime preclude a long holiday, and so many of us who have less time find that UK weekend breaks are one kind of getaway that we can fit in. In this article we'll look at some of the most popular destinations for UK weekend breaks. From the North to the South, there are some impressive options available. Whether you consider these or not depends on how far you are willing to travel, as in most instances people wish to keep the travelling down to a minimum - as it takes up valuable time that could be spent holidaying.

The Isle of Skye

This location is fairly problematic to get to, but for those who live in the west of Scotland or the North of England, it could certainly be an option. It is worth making the effort as it is arguably one of the most attractive areas in the country - few other areas boast so many mountains, so much open space and so much wildlife. Here, the wildlife rules the environment, as opposed to man - who seem to have to struggle more. That said there are plenty of good quality guest houses and hotels which provide comfortable rooms and tasty Scottish food.

London

For those who live a fair distance from the capital, London is pretty much the only large world class city in the United Kingdom. And its reputation is founded on good reason. Among weekend breaks in the UK, London remains a big favourite for many people. Whether you are looking for somewhere to visit with young children; or you want a vibrant place to visit as a couple; London arguably caters for a broad range of demographics. It is known for its various historical attractions - for example the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, The Palace of Westminster and many others. In terms of good restaurants it also has plenty to choose from - to match a range of pockets.

Dartmoor

Dartmoor, which is located in the heart of Devonshire, is another favourite when it comes to weekend breaks. Exeter is around 2.5 hours from London by train, from where you can get buses or taxis out to Dartmoor. Here you'll find what is known as one of England's last great wildernesses - where ponies run wild and pasties and ice cream are freely available.

These are just three of the diverse locations you might consider as places to enjoy UK weekend breaks.
