subject: Fitness Tips For The Working Mom [print this page]

Fitting regular exercise in and around the daily duties of a busy mom lifestyle can be hard. The stresses of everyday work combined with raising a family can distract you from following a weight loss plan.

With that said, this is no excuse to ignore exercise completely. There are the same amount of hours in each day that we all manage to complete our other daily activities, so how is it that we cannot put aside some time for exercise?

We don't forget to brush our teeth or wash ourselves each day. Why do we do this? They are apart of your planned daily routine. If you do not brush your teeth regularly, tooth decay can be a reality. The same goes for not washing your body, you can end up with skin diseases. But do you realize that by putting off exercising, you can gain weight?

Saying that you don't have much time to exercise is an excuse to get out of exercising in most cases. In all honesty, it is usually either a case of being scared of exercise, or not knowing how to start. Whichever situation you are in, this article can help you add exercise to your daily routine.

1. Don't Workout By Yourself

Exercising alone is not always fun. But by sharing your exercise experience with someone else, you will increase your chances of having fun. Motivation will also be alot higher when you have some friendly competition. It's worth asking another working mom if you know one who wants to fit more exercise into her day.

2. Use Your iPod

Have an iPod handy anytime you frequent a gym. This is great for decreasing the potential for boredom.

3. Only Do What You Like

It is only a matter of time before you become sick of exercising, if you choose to include certain exercises in your routine that you despise. Keep a look out for exercises that are fun to make your routine easier.

4. Begin Slowly

If you are unfamiliar with exercise, it will be fair to say that you would be nervous to hit the gym straight away. Don't pay any attention to those who preach exercising must be done every day to shift excess weight. But start by taking it easy with maybe a routine of two to three days per week. Once you have this under control you can increase the intensity of your workouts.
