subject: Communication In Business [print this page]

Communication plays a vital role in the day-to-day activities of both individuals and companies. Without communication, it would be impossible to make decisions regarding most issues in society. Most organizations and businesses take communication very seriously and have put up systems to ensure there is no breakdown of the same. A business requires an efficient communication system in order to pass information to its customers. It also needs to pass timely information to its suppliers and lenders in order to ensure continuity of the business. Finally, a business requires a good communication system to ensure that information gets to its employees regarding new products and prices.

Failure to communicate between the business and its employees may lead to huge losses as a result of ignorance on the part of the employees regarding the prices of goods or services. This may, in effect, cause the business to crumble in cases where the employee underpriced the goods. It may also lead to loss of customers in cases where the employees overpriced commodities above the market price. In most cases, employees such as salesmen rarely go to the office as their work is usually based on contact with customers every day. Choosing an appropriate means of communication can go a long way in eliminating problems that may result from lack of information.

In most cases, companies and businesses issue mobile phones to employees in order to communicate efficiently with them. This has proved to be effective in terms of keeping employees informed on changes regarding the business. It is important to note that most businesses invest a lot in their employees and so, in return, expect positive results in their work. Cell phones issued to employees are usually a motivating factor due to the large applications present in the phones. A company may buy different types of phones for its employees depending on its budget and the need to create a competitive atmosphere in the business. It has been a common occurrence for companies to reward good performance of employees with advanced cell phones such as the iPhone. This makes other employees work harder in order to get the same reward. However, the main purpose of issuing phones to the employees is to assist them in their work by ensuring a constant flow in communication between the company and also the customers of the business. Care should, however, be taken when handing out phones to employees as the company may suffer high expenses as a result of personal calls made by the employees on the phones.
