subject: A Tribute To Colorado [print this page]

As a true Coloradoan, it seriously shocks me how much our state has grown up over the previous ten years. When I lived in France everyone would ask me where I called home. When I told them I was from Colorado, they would all smile and say "Oh, like Doctor Quinn!" I can certainly tell you that Colorado today is extremely different from the world of Doctor Quinn, Medicine Woman. Since 2000 the state's population has grown by over 750,000. Once known for our vast expanses of land, these are quickly becoming a sight of the past, but I guess we only have ourselves to blame for this. Colorado has become a particularly charming place to reside. Louisville, Colorado was titled the top place to live in Money Magazine's top 100 list for 2011. Aside from Louisville, four other Colorado towns were listed. Quite striking, huh? I suppose if we would stop gaining recognition for these types of things we wouldn't have so many newcomers from all over the place. But who wouldn't like waking up to a spectacular rocky mountain view every morning? Not only are our towns gaining recognition for the quality of life they provide to their citizens, but Colorado is home to numerous highly regarded companies. One industry that we are particularly fond of here at Baskets By Rita is the gourmet food industry. Not only is Colorado famous for restaurant chains like Old Chicago, Chipotle, Noodles & Company, Quizno's, and Good Times, but the state is also home to numerous high-end food brands as well. At Baskets By Rita we carry products from Colorado businesses like Bhakti Chai, Bobo's Oat Bars, Celestial Seasonings, Chocolove, and Boulder Natural Foods, all based in Boulder, Colorado. There has to be something about Boulder that compels people to make healthy, mouth watering foods. If you are not acquainted with all of these products, you may be familiar with other Colorado businesses which include Hammond's Candies, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Larabar, and Too Haute Cowgirls. Maybe I'm a little bit of a foodie, but if the mountains don't entice folks in, I would imagine that businesses similar to these would be a great reason to come to Colorado. Oh, and did I include that there are around 120 breweries in our state? Colorado has been named the Napa Valley of the beer world. What can I say? our state is outstanding! If I've managed to wet your appetite and you're now hungry for Colorado made food and beer why not buy a db:01: from us and indulge yourself. db:02: Maybe if you enjoy one of our baskets and love the contents enough, you too might look into moving to the centennial state.
