subject: Do You Use Traffic Exchanges In Your Online Business? Why Not! [print this page]

I have to admit that for several years I did not pay attention to traffic exchanges to make money online. In the last couple of years I've taken the time to understand some of the key points regarding traffic exchanges and my online business has benefited from it.

Let me give you a few tips you should be aware of if you're considering traffic exchanges to make money.

1. Surf 4 exchanges or more at a time. Depending on the length of time between ads you can comfortably surf 4 or more traffic exchanges at one time.

Most timers are going to run the ads somewhere between 6 and 20 seconds. The benefit of surfing multiple traffic exchanges a one time is you can quickly pile up credits for your ads to be seen.

2. Keep your ad short. I made the mistake of running sales pages and to be honest with you that hasn't really worked for me.

A better approach is to run a short landing page that is designed to build an email list. If you're promoting other type of traffic generation methods keep your primary message focused where the surfer can see it.

People do actually pay attention to some of the ads. Whether it's a graphic or a title, something will catch their eye and that can be what gets them to click through to your web page.

3. Upgrade if you can. The primary benefit to being a pro member with a traffic exchange is the surfer ratio is 1:1. That means a you are earning one credit for every page you surf.

If you are not upgraded you may have to surf 2 pages to get one credit. Depending how serious you are about it this I can be a huge difference and justify the price of the upgrade.

4. Watch for specials. Traffic exchanges run specials all the time and this can be a great way to purchase bulk credits for a very low price.

As you become busier in your online business you may not want to spend time surfing. Purchasing a credit package is a good way around this.

5. Watch your stats. Be sure you're tracking the website URL you are promoting.

You can see what traffic exchanges are performing the best by checking your daily traffic stats. I use the ones available to me through my hosting company.

Over time you'll notice the exchanges that are performing the best. These are the ones you want to increase your daily credit cap, or run more ads with.

Many Internet marketers make the mistake of overlooking traffic exchanges as part of their overall advertising mix. These can be a good way to build an email list, or drive traffic to a specific promotion you want them to see for a low csot per visitor.
