subject: Does A Parent Have To Ride Along In A Limo For A Prom Group? [print this page]

All right, so you've decided to rent a prom limo and share the costs with some of your friends - smart choice! But you're wondering, "Does a parent have to ride along in a limo for a prom group?"

Just about any prom limo company is going to want an adult chaperone or matron accompanying a group of teenagers who are renting one of their very expensive, posh limos. It doesn't HAVE to be a parent, but if one of the parents of your buddies is a great sport and willing to do this, then at least you would know the chaperone. If you'd all prefer a stranger be the designated chaperone, most prom limo companies will provide that person.

There's lots of understandable justification as to why a limo company includes this in their policies. You of all people know how teenagers can sometimes become rambunctious, even obnoxious (some more than others!)and even though it may be unintentional, at times their fun-making becomes destructive The limo company is only protecting their investment, and actually protecting you as their passengers, too, by having a chaperone or matron keep a safe cap on the festivities. In addition to the limo's inherent value, on board equipment is also important to treat respectfully. For example, if there's any damage to, say, the TV, DVD player, X-Box, stereo, or if a remote or any other items "walk away", you'll be hit with a pretty high fee for damages or replacement.

Most prom limo packages include guaranteed pick-up and drop-off times; about 8 to 10 hours of service; a nonalcoholic bar; plasma TV,a DVD player, an X-Box and cutting edge sound system. And in case you're wondering, all alcohol will be removed from the prom limo before it makes it heads your way. Be smart - don't try to smuggle alcohol or any other illegal substances on board your prom limo. This will result in the termination of what should have been a great night for all of your friends, and you'll wind up paying the same fee as if the evening had gone of without a hitch. It's not worth it, so don't even go there.

Whatever good-natured adult winds up being your chaperone, do your best to help them have an enjoyable night, too. Building a positive rapport with them can only enhance the overall good time everybody is anticipating, so be considerate of their feelings and don't make them have to become a policeman or policewoman. They'd rather keep things light, too, rather than having to play the bad guy. Have yourself an amazing prom, and enjoy the limo!
