subject: The Domincan Republic Hosts Masters Surf Reunion In Cabarete This Week [print this page] This year Playa Encuentro will once again hosting the annual Masters Surf Reunion in Cabarete, during which surfers of all ages will gather from 3rd to 6th November 2011 for the three-day fun and surf event.
This fun water sport event draws many surfing enthusiasts, professional surfers and onlookers who want to join in the action during their Dominican Republic holidays. The event will have something for everyone will be divided into different categories: Masters, Woman Masters, Grand Masters, Legends, Comebacks, Kahuna, Grand Kahuna, Master Boogie Board, Longboard, Expression Sessions and Padre es Hijos (Parents and Children)
There will be competitions in the Master category for the over-35s, Grand Master for the over-40s, Kahuna for the over-45s, Grand Kahuna for the over-50s, Legends for the over-55s and Women Master for the over-35s. There will also be a special award for the Comeback, recognising people who haven't surfed in a long time. Children and their parents will also have the chance to battle it out to win prizes and scoop up awards. It might be fun for some of those enjoying Dominican Republic holidays in Cabarete to head down there with their families and be part of the surfing action.
The competition traditionally brings together several generations of Dominican and international surfers who come together to celebrate their favourite hobby. Playa Encuentro in the countrys northern coast and in the popular beach town of Cabarete, is the place chose for the event.
The event is kicking off this Thursday 3rd November with an opening party at the Bar Lounge Millennium. Those who happen to be enjoying holidays in the Dominican Republic during the event will be able to head down and participate in the beach party.
The event successfully combines the surfing competition with the possibility of getting together with old surf friends and acquaintances. This year some 120 surfers are expected to participate in the annual event, in the Master, Grand Master, Kahuna and Big Kahuna categories. In the Come Back and Long-Board competitions, participants will compete using classic surfboards.
The Masters Reunion in the Dominican Republic is sponsored by the Dominican Association of Surfing Master (ADSM) and the Aquatic Sports Association of the North Coast (Adacon).
