subject: Rockstar Gta 5 Release [print this page] What's All The Fuss About? What's All The Fuss About?
The GTA 5 trailer was released on 2 Nov and first opinions were good. Really good. So much so, in fact, that I was patiently waiting for the all significant question to be answered, 'When will GTA 5 be released?', only to be left clutching at fresh air when no further information was forth-coming.
It's been a while until we saw a GTA offering from Rockstar Games. Well over 4 years actually and any reports, or lack of it concerning the new game is long overdue. That said, many gamers are looking for a return to form from Rockstar after being just a little dissatisfied with the former installment.
Personally, I'm holding out to a return to form of the previous installment, Vice City, which epitomized everything that I liked in the GTA franchise. And from the looks of the trailer, there may well be something of this in the offering.
Is An Early GTA 5 Release Date On the Cards?
While analysts remain split on the specific launch date of the game one merchant, Zavvi have provided a distinct release date for the game as being 23 Nov 2012. Is this a genuine possibility or have they just selected out a figure from thin air?
Traditionally, Rockstar have released games early in the year, with the months of April or May being strong favorites for GTA 5. On the other hand, another major title, May Payne, is already planned for release in March, and it is probable that Rockstar Games would not release two significant titles in such close succession. After all, business is business.
If this is to be assumed then supporters of the video game are without a doubt in for a long wait.
What can We Learn From The Industry professionals?
On the one hand there's the analysts who have predicted an early release.
Among these is Wedbush Morgan's Michael Patter who hinted at a release in June 2012, declaring that, "if they're ready in June, they'll do it."
The other party is hovering towards a Nov launch. Both Divnich and Tom Hopkins mentioned Q4 as being the most probable date.
From Divnich, "If I could create the most ideal schedule for Rockstar, it would be a May Payne release in May and GTA 5 in November 2012."
With industry analysts torn and game enthusiasts anxious for inside information, it's tricky to come up with a definitive answer. Perhaps for now the best we can say is watch this space while we keenly await forthcoming developments to come to the surface.
Personally, I can wait as I would rather see a finished and quality successor to Vice City than see a hurried version of the game be released simply to satisfy player demand and sales.
What we can say with some certainty is that 2012 will be an thrilling and profitable year for Rockstar as well as for avid gamers the world over.
What About The Trailer?
There's lots of other great info on the trailer and even though you may not see the game release date plainly advertised, there's a huge selection of information on what to anticipate from the game.
Some of the main highlights are, it's set in San Andreas, airplanes can be seen flying through the sky, houses and hookers are back, there's mini games, you get to play as different personas and Tommi Vercetti is in it.
While we are adoring the inescapable fact that it's San Andreas again, it would have been great to see more locations such as London make a re-appearance. Who know, it could be that they do but you can't see that from the trailer.
The game continues to explore the theme of large panoramas and free roaming spaces. Only this time, it gets a graphical overhaul making the environment that much more breathtaking as a result.
