subject: Activities That Will Bring More Fun To Halloween [print this page]

Halloween is just around the corner, and your kids are probably getting excited wondering what activities you have in store for them. Every year, you host a Halloween party that turns out to be fun and memorable for your kids and their friends. Perhaps you have drained out all ideas, failing to come up with something unique this year. Here are some suggestions for Halloween party activities that you can try: trick or treat with healthy goodies, a Halloween scavenger hunt, horror story-telling, and a Halloween painting session.

Healthy Goodies for Trick or Treat

Trick or treat has always been associated with candies, chocolates, lollipops, and all other sugary goodies. Why not bring trick or treat to another level and offer healthier choices like apples dipped in caramel, chocolate-coated bananas, fruit goodie bags, pretzels, and tarts? A healthy trick or treat need not be bland or boring especially for children; just present them in an interesting way that will entice them to grab as much apples as they do with candies.

Halloween Treasure Hunt

A scavenger hunt will never fail to bring excitement and thrill to kids. Hold this in your backyard or garden and plant gifts and goodies in hidden places. Write a list of the items for them to find, or simply jot down clues to make it more mysterious and challenging. Depending on the number of kids, decide whether the hunt will be done per child or per team.

Horror Story-Telling

Savor the spook of Halloween with a scary story-telling session. Ask the kids to prepare a short story, either original or handed down, and let them share it to everyone in the scariest and most animated manner they can. You can even break them in groups and instruct them to act the story out. Whether you do this as a contest or a simple sharing of tales, acknowledge every story-teller and hand out goodies to recognize their effort.

Halloween Painting Session

Most kids find art sessions exciting, so grab paintbrushes, acrylic paint, watercolor, and any painting medium that the kids can work with. Make sure to provide aprons to protect the kids costumes from the paint. Ask the kids to paint a particular theme, say the character they find scariest, or go free-flowing and tell them to paint whatever they like.

It is up to you whether you will only include a Halloween scavenger hunt in the Halloween party, or you want to incorporate these four activities all-together. Surely these will all ensure that the kids get to enjoy Halloween so much more. Even parents and older siblings can join the fun too.
