subject: Shop Online And Spare The Long Lines [print this page] It's no secret that a lot of women love to shop, especially with a group of buddies. This is true the world over and I'll bet some men get together and shop for fun also.
We love taking our time looking at all the different products, picking things up and putting them down and passing them around. Spending time together finding the perfect gift or item on our shopping lists is often a good bonding experience. Walking through the stores shopping and talking with our girl friends is a great way for us to relax and enjoy our free time.
Not all shopping is created equal, however. And there are, in fact, many women who hate to shop, that are looking at the first paragraph of this article and thinking, you have got to be kidding me. Ladies, I salute you. Regardless of which camp you happen to fall into, however, there's a good chance you'll agree with me on one very, very important thing.
Twiddling Your Thumbs in the Checkout Line is No Fun
No matter where you shop, be it for clothes, food or shoes, it seems there is always a long line in front of the cash register. Waiting in line is boring, frustrating and useless. The time seems to go on forever and ruins what may have started out to be a good day. Department stores and grocery stores must be saving wads of money by not hiring enough cashiers to quickly ring up the customers' purchases. Standing in line is an annoying waste of time.
Yes, in Kindergarten we learned to wait Our Turn, so What Now?
There are a zillion things I can think of that I would rather do than stand in line. Watching grass grow or cleaning out horse stables are a couple that springs to mind. The reason I haven't taken an SUV full of kids to Disneyworld yet is because I don't want to stand in line for ten hours with a bunch of restless, squirming little darlings. This is where my eyelids start twitching and my speech slurs.
Since I refuse to be the person who barges into the post office and uses the fact that my kids are sitting in the car to barge in line, however, I know every time I go shopping I have to either get around my distaste of lines or get over it. And that, my friend, is why I love shopping on the web.
You already know how to bargain hunt in stores. You can translate this knowledge very easily to the web and save time in the doing. The really great news though is that money isn't the only thing you save shopping online and it may not even be the greatest part of your shopping expedition.
The greatest advantage to shopping online is the saving of your precious time and sanity. Online shopping gives you more time to spend with your family, with your work, with your fun. You may even make it to that zumba class at the gym. So, if you need something and can wait a couple of days for it, save yourself from traffic, parking woes, packing the kids into the car, and yes, standing in line by doing your shopping online.
