SAP refers Systems, Applications and ProductsSAP refers Systems, Applications and Products. SAP is not only a name of world's largest software company, but also produces the software products. SAP AG is authorized name of company when it is formed in Germany. The first version of SAP is called SAP R/1. After some improvement this version called SAP R/2 which was based on business application software. Later on SAP AG launched a client server computing, this is called SAP R/3.

Functionality of SAP:

The latest version of SAP is SAP R/3, which is handle complete operation and management tasks of overall organization or company. It means R/3 provides many facilities to the user with tools like mange financial, cost accounting, production operations and assets documents. It runs on the ABAP its full form is Advance business application Programming, which is 4th generation programming language. R/3 is compatible with several platforms.

Modules of SAP:

R/3 is made up of several individual functional software modules. These software modules combine to execute all the operational and management tasks of any organization or company. Each individual functional module handles specific functions, the most widely used software modules are Logistics, Accounting and Human Resources.

Logistics is the method of completing a process from start to finish on request. Various tasks involved in this process are Sales and Distribution, Production Planning, Materials Management, Plant Maintenance and Quality Management among others, all of which are integrated by Logistic module.

Components of SAP-

SAP has a basic system, which is called the kernel. It is responsible for carrying out all functionality because it is engine of SAP R/3 system. It has interpreter which checks user input or information and display the massage. It takes the input from the user and fed it into the system and transfer to this input to the ABAP interpreter. Interpreter executes the instructions which were used to develop SAP. The SAP has a data dictionary for storing all types of definitions used in various modules. Interfaces connect the software with the outside environment enabling communication between the user and the system.

Elimination of duplication, discontinuity and redundancy in data and increases the return on investment made on IT implementations. It delivers quality information designed for the Enterprise as a whole Faster and cheaper which in turn delivers quality information to produce a quality enterprise. These solutions are Financials, Human Resources, Customer Relationship Management, Supplier Relationship Management, Product Lifecycle Management, Supply Chain Management, and Business Intelligence.
