subject: How To Send A Lithium Camera Battery In The Mail [print this page]

Digital cameras can be powered by rechargeable batteries. One of the types of rechargeable battery and batteries packs used in digital cameras is lithium. Lithium batteries must be properly packaged and shipped to prevent them from short-circuiting during transport. When lithium Olympus FE-200 batteries short circuit, it can cause a fire or a corrosive substance to leak from the batteries.

Examine the Panasonic CGR-S006E batteries. If the batteries appear to be damaged, dented or corrosive they cannot be shipped.

Place the battery in a blister pack or an inner packaging, such as a plastic bag and bubble wrap. Each CASIO Exilim Card EX-S880 battery must be individually wrapped and the wrapping must protect the battery from contact with other batteries.

Place the batteries in a box that is properly sized for the amount of batteries being shipped. Each battery must be separated with a layer of cushioning and a divider. So the package should be packaged with a cushioning layer, such as bubble wrap over the bottom of the box, followed by the packaged or wrapped battery, followed by more cushioning, followed by a divider, such as a cardboard piece. Repeat the process over until the box is filled or all of the Canon IXY-210 IS batteries are packaged.

Seal the box with tape. Place a label in a visible area on the box that states that the box contains small lithium batteries and special procedures should be followed in the event that the package is damaged. Many shippers, such as USPS, UPS and FedEx have specially designed stickers that can be obtained and placed on the package. Contact your shipper to obtain these stickers.
