subject: Fall Sports In Florida Makes Vacationing Here A Blast [print this page]

The state of Florida, particularly the Tampa Bay area, offers a vast array of sporting events, especially during the fall months. Home to the Tampa Bay Rays, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Lightning, FC Tampa Bay, and the USF Bulls, the area is filled with opportunities to enjoy live sporting events.

Floridians love when the weather gets just a bit cooler in time for football, both college and the NFL. In Tampa Bay, both the Bucs and the Bulls play at Raymond James Stadium, which has been voted among NFL players and officials as the best playing surface in the NFL. Not to mention it has one really cool pirate ship thats always an attraction among fans. And every time the Bucs and the Bulls score, it fires off canons. Got kids? No problem. Childrens tickets are very low-priced.

The Tampa Bay Rays, in St. Petersburg, are just a 10-15 minute drive from the Pinellas County Beaches, including the renowned St. Pete Beach and Treasure Island. These games are an excellent option if youre visiting in early fall and youve brought the whole family. Tickets are as low as $15, its not far from most of the areas hotels and vacation rentals, you can take a trolley to get there, and they play almost every night. If youve got little ones, Sundays are especially fun because kids can run the bases after the games and they always offer free giveaways to children 14 and under.

Also in downtown St. Petersburg, which is considered to be a very pedestrian-friendly city with lots of charming boutiques and restaurants downtown, is Al Lang Field where FC Tampa Bay, the areas soccer team, now plays its games. These games used to be held in Tampa at Steinbrenner Field, home of the Yankees Spring Training, but have since moved to Pinellas County and are much closer to the beaches.

The Tampa Bay Lightning offer one of the most exciting fan experiences of any of the areas sports teams. With the recent renovations to the St. Pete Times Forum and coming off a season that fell one game short of making the Stanley Cup Final, the Lightning routinely have a packed house in downtown Tampa. Plus its right across the street from the very-popular Channelside District, where there are tons of nice restaurants, tapas bars, night clubs, shopping malls, and more.

If youre thinking of attending sporting events here in Tampa Bay, its best to purchase your tickets ahead of time rather than at the door so you can score great deals, including group packages and discounts on food. In fact the Rays games offer some affordable family fun packages which include drinks, snacks, and tickets.
