subject: Lean Management Practices Are The Trend Of The Times [print this page]

Lean management practices as well as tools are almost akin if not the same. They are interlocked with standards which connotes superior work performance in lean management. Lean management tools are introduced and implemented by managers for purposes of rewards, motivation, and upgrade quality of performance. These are handed and passed on between employees until they become practices. In traditional companies this is already defined as the culture as it permeates generations of employees.

Basically, these lean management practices or tools, set standards that are essentially the way by which managers can inspire others. These practices are expected to motivate and bring in changes that will elevate their kind of performance. Contrary to what some may believe, these changes are not so much about the processes but more on changing attitudes and cultures.

Performance Metrics and Value Streaming (VS)are some frequently used lean management practices or tools. The use of Balance Scorecard is an example of Performance Metrics that intends to evaluate work quality through use of measurable data. This is used to enhance performance as it identifies strengths upon which performance may be anchored. Value streaming is the way by which everything unnecessary that cause waste and topple added values are eliminated in the entire process. The result of such practice is to make the entire processes tighter, with higher quality products and services thus meeting the demands of customers much faster.

There are other lean management practices that really reflect lean mindset and these the zero waste culture and focus on people that have added values to the compay. Value streaming can effectively reveal waste that exists in all the streams. Lean management practices should be able to address these wastage points. Thus, products are expected to be of standard quality without being expensive. With wastage down and under the right people to manage, there is no reason for efficiency not to prevail. This is why lean management systems advocate leadership.

Lean management is the craze these days and lean management practices are the modes by which this transformation can happen. This mindset is revolutionary, timely, and definite useful.
