If you plan on working out by yourself and in your house than most likely you wont have access to any Olympic bars or barbells. Dont worry because this is not a problem at all if you want to develop an awesome physique and body. All you really need is a bunch of dumbbells and whats even better that I recommend toe everyone is picking up a set of those power blocks. They range for 5 to 95 pounds and they replace an entire set of dumbbells in one small space. Now when it comes to lower body exercises with dumbbells, that are many variations that you can use to replace traditional squats, leg presses etc

Thats one of the great things about squats with dumbbells because there are numerous variations so you can always change things up to keep your workouts interesting and to always keep your body guessing.

The first and classic dumbbell lower body exercise is the basic squat where you just hold the dumbbells to your side and perform a regular squat .Make sure to keep your chest upright the entire time and push your butt back to start the movement. Let your arms hang down and relax as well the entire time. A lot of people make the mistake of bringing their arms up because thats the natural movement. You dont want to do that because then you take away some of the resistance on your lower body.

Another way that you can squat with dumbbells is by holding the two dumbbells straight in front of you in between your legs. This would be an example of a dumbbell sumo squat. The only difference is that you take a wider stance so your glutes, hamstrings and abductors come into play more as compared to purely your quadriceps doing the majority of the lifting. This is better for someone who might not have the proper flexibility and mobility to squat ass to grass all the way down for a regular squat or for someone who might have potential knee problems. I have one client who has severe arthritis in her knee and cant squat the normal way but she can squat with light weights with a wide sumo stance.

Another way you can squat is by using a goblet grip. A goblet grip or whats known as the goblet squat is one of the easiest ways anyone can learn how to squat properly without hurting themselves and screwing up the movement. It forces your body into a natural position to squat properly and teaches you the right body mechanics without hesitation. So all youre going to do is take a goblet grip like so, keep your chest up and elbows high. From there, simply sit back into the movement, squat down and back up.

All in all, squats with dumbbells are perfect in youre working out in your home and you dont have access to a lot of equipment. There are plenty of variations to get a great lower body workout with dumbbells and youll still be able to lose weight and built sculpted legs without a problem.
