subject: Interactive Whiteboards Are Like Modern Tablets [print this page]

The rate of change with technological gadgets is so fast that it can be difficult to keep up at times. Even though computers are now regarded as being essential for many homes, there is a new wave of gadgets that are threatening to put even computers under pressure. Tablets and smart phones are allowing people to access the internet and use apps in such an easy fashion and it is no surprise that children are taking to these new products very easily. After all, kids have not been bogged down with learning about old gadgets so their minds are free to embrace new technologies. This is why interactive whiteboards are working so well in schools these days.

Even though interactive whiteboards can be used with special pens, many of them feature touch responsive segments where the pupil or teacher can directly interact with them. This is a great thing because there will be an instant sense of familiarity for any user who has a tablet or a smart phone at home. The pupil may not own themselves but if their parents or a sibling has one, there is every chance that they could be more than equipped to deal with this sort of technology in the classroom.

Allowing children to learn in a manner that they recognise and are comfortable with is a great way to get the best out of them. A child who has technology at home will not be intimidated by technology in the classroom and will actually feel happy when using it. These interactive whiteboards, amongst all the benefits they bring to the education process, allow children to study and learn in the way that they behave and live at home. This has to be seen as a positive step for any educational body or council.

Similarly, teachers who are adept at using smart phones or tablet technology will be comfortable in using the technology and teaching their pupils how to get the best from it. This is a great thing because if a teacher is relaxed and confident in the classroom, this will filter through to the pupils. There are different ways to teach a classroom but if a teacher is nervous or is unsure of what they are doing, pupils will pick up on it and start to become unruly and question the authority of the teacher. Interactive whiteboard technology will ensure that everyone is able to learn in a confident manner.
