subject: Texting And Relationships - Advice For Men [print this page]

Texting has become an integral part of relationships, sometimes more so than even talking on the phone. Yet, it is still new enough that not everyone really knows what's proper about texting their girlfriend. If you are kind of on the outside looking in when it comes to the whole texting women thing, then you may want to keep on reading. While it may not seem like it, you can really jump start your relationship with your ability to text her the right things at the right time.

Most guys make the mistake of being too hot or too cold when it comes to sending text messages. They either don't send them enough, or they send them way too often. Kind of the same thing as it used to be with the phone. Guys used to, and still do, call too little or too much and don't really know where the balance is.

Here is some advice that can help you out if you are wondering about text messages and your relationship:

1) More is not always better.

As I briefly touch on before, more is not always better. Sure, you would like to send her a message every time that you think of something to say to her, but that can be a bad thing. Just think about what it would be like on her end if she started to get one right after the other. It might be cute the first couple of times, but after that... it would probably be too much and start to get annoying to her. Don't treat it like a virtual umbilical cord, because that certainly is not sexy to her at all.

2) You don't have to be Hemmingway.

The cool thing about texting is that it does not require that you be a good writer at all. In fact, with all of the shorthand that people use, it's not really about writing at all. It's more about sending something to either make her feel a certain way or to just touch base with her.

3) Don't use it as a way to send explicit messages to her.

Kinky messages can be good, but when they get too explicit or that seems to be all that you are sending her, that can be a bad thing. They may be just words, but when she can sit there and look at them for a while, you don't want her to see that most of them tend to be a little explicit.
