"Lemonade for sale"
"Lemonade for sale"
He shouts out with such glee
With such expectancy
No matter that his little stand
Sits at the end of a quiet
And sleepy little street
A cul-de-sac and not a cut-through
No matter that there's few
Who can even hear
Should they stop and listen
"Lemonade for sale"
He repeats with boldness
With delightwith conviction
Never doubting the people will come
Convinced his cry is an invitation
Every passer-by has long awaited
"Lemonade for sale"
Perhaps his earnest plea
Will capture an ear or two
Perhaps that one will drop his hoses and rakes
Another stop their mowinganother cease their cleaning
They'll look up from their TV's and monitors
Turn off the ballgameput down the paper
One by one they'll stop, listen and look
At the wide-eyed child as he hopefully cries:
"Lemonade for sale
Lemonade and cookies25 cents"
Are you weary from the heat of the day?
Do come and witness a miracle
That will chase all your weariness away.
Do you have a thirst heavy from labor?
Do stop by and taste
A sweetness reserved only for the angels.
No. not the lemonade,
Though there is nothing quite as sweet
As lemonade stand lemonade!
And 25 cents a small price to pay
To watch a child's face light up with joy.
Nocome and taste the sweetest of all things!
Sweeter than the drink he confidently offers
Come and witness the glorious miracle
Not a soul in sight, yet, not a shadow of a doubt
Come and taste come and see
The faith of a child!
