subject: Getting Into Shape [print this page]

We live in a completely different world than the ones our parents grew up in. Everything about our life is different. We hear stories all the time about having to walk to school in the snow or how back in the days you had to actually call someone instead of sending a text. This also applies to food and especially the fast food industry.

Many of us are aware that obesity is becoming more and more rampant across the United States. Sometimes we wonder what is causing this. Almost every picture you ever see of your parents or grandparents, everyone always looks so fit and slender. What is the difference? Many people like to blame their weight on DNA. The truth is our change in lifestyle and eating habits is far more detrimental than what we think.

Even 20 years ago things were very different. Now days we can find a fast food chain on almost every corner. This has provided us with an easy way out of preparing food. The problem is the fat content that is involved in the preparations of the food. When our parents grew up they ate home cooked meals and worked 10 hours a day. Over the years I have learned that it is okay to eat small portions of fattening food if you do some sort of physical activity immediately after. This is why it is recommended that large fattening meals are avoided right before bedtime. If we want to get into shape we must make a conscious effort to eliminate greasy fast foods.

One of the hardest things to overcome is leaving food behind. For me I have always felt that if I paid for it I need to it eat. This is not so. Just because you paid for something does not mean you have to finish it. We need to limit the amount of food we eat and say no to those break time snacks that we love so dearly, especially if you have an office job where you sit around all day. It's also necessary to participate in some physical activity. This can have major physical and mental benefits that you will notice. It is hard to put on a pair of Cross Training Shoes and exercise for one hour after work, but once you get in the habit you will not regret it. If beginning a new exercise routine, make sure you have a descent pair of shoes that will provide you with adequate support and flexibility. Etonic is a great brand for cross training footwear especially Womens Cross Training Shoes.

You will find that some things work better for you than others. When it comes to getting into shape and losing weight you will find multiple ways to go about it. People will tell you things that contradict each other. What is important to know is that anything will work as long as you stick to it. It may take a combination of things but you will know when you start to see results and when you start to feel great.
