subject: Web 2.0 - The Future Of Internet Marketing [print this page]

What is web 2.0? Content creation is at the heart of the web 2.0 era, including the likes of socail media and generation of content. The search engines can easily spot the vast amounts of this kind of content, mainly due to how well optimized it typically is (content is keyword rich and information is easy to discover across the web). Web 2.0 websites can easily have traffic driven to them, thanks to the huge amount of data that is associated with the en masse of user-generated content that is on the web.

Web 2.0 properties are the source of lots of attention from businesses the world over. Wouldn't it make much more sense to have lots of pages of content linking back to your business rather than just a single website? Popularity dictates the success rate of web 2.0 properties including social media, over a company web page, hence why the search engines take the 2.0 approach much more seriously. It is better then for a company to have their own website and possibly dozens to hundreds of property websites that provide original content to consumers. Supporting properties would contain lots of relevant information to the company or niche of the target market, thereby improving visibility. Often, one single company will produce multiple web pages, each web page with a back link to the next. The target company gains better relevancy in their niche, as the search engines make the association between the content featured on the company website, thereby determining the niche of the company. The Internet is rife with fresh content on a regular basis, and so press releases and social media only add to the wealth of information about a company. All of this highly relevant information helps web users make more informed decisions and henceforth dictates buying behaviour, as they can relate to and retain the services or products of a company that meets their needs.

Web 2.0 properties are growing in terms of their popularity, and use in business, thanks in part to lots of companies offering it as a service for business use. These companies provide everything a business needs to create their searchable content for the web. For many observers, web 2.0 and its property websites are becoming the hottest commodity on the internet. Many businesses can now use this content to link up their web presence online, for the perfect SEO setup. So, how do you answer the question what is web 2.0? As the years go by, this Internet marketing trend will grow to dictate our methods of discovering needs and wants (i.e. shopping of products, services and information).
