subject: How You Can Put Together Budget Friendly Scrapbook Pages [print this page]

Making scrapbook pages can be a lot of fun and helps you pass the time and be able to do something productive with your day. Unfortunately some people find that making a scrapbook is quite expensive since you need a lot of specialty paper and other decorative items to make it look special. Well, that really is not the case. You can actually make a scrapbook without having to shell out any money.

There are a lot of ways to make scrapbook pages without ever having to purchase anything from the store. All you will need is a little creativity and a lot of resourcefulness. You might even be surprised at how much you can get done with this project. So with that, here are some great ways on how you can save up but still make wonderful and cost effective scrapbook pages:

1. Figure out a concept for your scrapbook.

Before you go rummaging out in your home for items to find that you can use, figure out first what your scrapbook would look like. Having a concept in mind makes it easier to look for things that would go well with your project. This also saves you some time with rummaging for things that you might not actually need.

2. Look around your home.

Now that you have an idea of what things to find, check out all the items you have that you can utilize to make your concept a reality. Some of the best things to use in pages for your scrapbook would be old placemats, outdated magazines and old wrapping paper. Old newspaper can also give your scrapbook some character.

3. Be in touch with nature.

If you think that you're project needs a little more touch of nature, then go into the backyard or into the garden and pick out some fresh leaves. Make sure to pick out leaves that have better and more intricate veins. This actually gives it a more rustic feel.

Now that you have these leaves, what you will need to do is press them by inserting them in between books. This is best done with thick books. Make sure that all the leaves are lined with paper so as not to place any damage on the book page. Leave them there for several days to dry. You may also try to do this with flowers and other plants.

4. Check out your closet.

If you still have trouble finding items to fill your scrapbook, you may even want to try checking your closet for items. Old clothes with a lot of great print can't be used as great decorations and borders. What is great about this is that it can give your project a certain amount of uniqueness that can't be duplicated by others.

Other garment items such as buttons can also count as decorative items. You may even create a pocketed page that has a zipper opening to keep in small trinkets. Or even try making a zipper inspired border for a photo.
