subject: Why A Used Car Could Be Right For You [print this page]

All drivers out there know that, right now, buying a new car could set you back by thousands of pounds. There are many finance and credit plans available from new car dealerships, but even they can be a burden on your bank balance if you dont have much money.

If you want to make sure you get the best car you can without spending more money than you can afford you should definitely look into getting a used car, which could come as good as new just without the hefty price tag.

Depending on the cars history and how old it is, you could get a perfectly good car for practically nothing, helping you to save loads of money. Of you choose to buy a used car there are a few things that you should be aware of though, just to make sure you get what youre looking for.

Many people think that buying a used car can be dangerous as you cant be certain what youre getting, but if you ask all of the right questions youll be able to figure out if the car youre looking at is for you. The first thing you should do is ask about the cars service history. The seller can either supply this or you can do a history check on it yourself, although it does cost a small amount of money to do so.

If that comes back clear, the next thing to do is ask to examine the cars documents. These should always include its logbook and certificates for services and MOTs it has had in the past. If youre happy with that take a look at the VIN number (Vehicle Identification Number), to make sure it matches up with the one in the logbook.

After this you can look under the bonnet and around the car to see if there is any damage or repair work that needs doing that the owner hasnt already pointed out to you. It can also be a good idea to find out exactly why the owner is selling the car, and remember that you are perfectly entitled to ask questions.

You can find used car sellers online now and if you dont have quite enough to cover the cost of the purchase you can apply for used car finance from a number of reputable companies. To find out more or to start searching for your dream car, look online now.
