subject: The Best Diwali Gifts For Teenagers! [print this page]

How many of us remember what we were like when we were teenagers? Did we ever like any of the gifts that we received from those older and wiser than us? Didnt we think they were blind to the needs of teenagers? That they didnt understand us? That they only gave us boring and uninspiring gifts? And are things any different today?

Although many parents are closer to their teenage children these days than during our time, theres no denying that theres still a generation gap in many families. And regardless of this gap, we parents still love our children and would love to give them Diwali gifts that will be appreciated and cherished by them. And yet, we dont always know what would make them happy.

Of course, there are some pretty obvious gifting solutions for teenagers such as perfumes and colognes; books and music; clothes and jewelry; funky watches; and so much more. But within these categories, do we really know which ones they would prefer? A teenage daughter may prefer a sensuous perfume to a floral cologne. A teenage son may prefer a chunky divers watch to the elegant designer watch of our choice.

If we buy make-up it may be the wrong color. If we buy clothes, they may be the wrong style. If we buy music, it could be a disaster! How on earth will we ever know what would be the right gift for a teenager? What did we want when we were the same age? Were we more docile and accepting of what we received? Or have we conveniently forgotten our reactions through the mists of time?

May be the best compromise would be to give a gift for which we decide on the budget and our teenage children decide on the gift item. Its really quite simple gift cards, of course. They allow a democratic process for both parents and children. Both sides have a say in the gift and all relevant toes remain un-trod upon!

Any teenager will greet gift cards with cries of joy and a new appreciation for their parents - because gift cards can be ordered online for a massive range of product categories and brands, and can be redeemed at innumerable shops and malls. Given the value of the gift card, our teenage children can feel free to choose anything that takes their fancy. Their choice does not have to be dictated by their parents preferences, and this suits just about everyone all around making for a very happy Diwali for all concerned.
