subject: Apple iPhone 4 Excuses - The iPhone "Death Grip" [print this page] This article is basically looking at the new Apple iPhone 4 and its terrible reception problem caused by what is now being called the "death grip" We are also looking at a response from Apple in regards to the reception problem. If you have experienced the poor reception on the iPhone 4 or the phone calls dropping out this is most likely your problem along with network carriers unable to cope withe high data consumption that the new iPhone eats through.
Apple responded that the new iPhone is regarded as the best smart phone to ever hit the market and that reviewers from all around the world have given it the thumbs up, they also stated that users have said that they love it. However this response is not addressing the problematic reception that is caused by the way users hold their new phone. Apple goes on to say that as soon as the widespread reports about reception problems came to their attention they started to investigate it and here was their findings.
That all phones lose some reception when "tightly gripped" what a response have you or anyone else ever had a problem with the reception of your phone by the way you were holding it. It is important to remember we are not looking at the position of the phone but the way you hold it, specifically to tight that is causing the drop outs and poor reception. I tend to recall something about Apple saying that they design their products to fit in with your lifestyle but the new iPhone tends to be the other way round and that you need to adjust the way you hold your phone for the phone to work.
The biggest excuse I have heard from Apple in regards to the dropouts is that they have not correctly formulated the signal strength bars that are displayed on the new iPhone 4. They say that when it displays 4 bars of signal strength it really means two, kind of a ridiculous excuse it seems for poor antenna design. To fix this problem Apple are offering a software upgrade to fix this "bar" problem and it should be available soon, however I doubt very much that it has anything to with the poor reception most are receiving from their new iPhone 4.
