subject: Lasik In Austin Is An Eye Opening Experience [print this page]

The first time that I had any real experience with Lasik in Austin was when my cousin decided to have the surgery done two summers ago. Excuse the pun, but I have to say it was definitely an eye opening experience for both of us.

My cousin said that within hours of having the surgery done, her vision was better than it had been wearing her glasses or contact lenses. She was seeing halos around lights in the evening, and her eyes were pretty sensitive to light for a while, but those problems faded pretty quickly though. Two years later she still has the best vision she's had since she was eight years old or so.

Because her vision was improved so much, the surgery was literally an eye opening experience for her, but the surgery did turn her into a pretty high maintenance girl for a while.

In the days and weeks following the surgery, she spent a lot of time putting eye drops in her eyes. In fact, the day of her surgery she spent most of the day either sleeping or listening to audio books with her eyes closed, because the rules were that as long as her eyes were closed consistently she didn't have to put eye drops in.

She had several different types of eye drops that had to be put into her eyes a certain amount of times a day, and of course no two types of drops were allowed to be put into her eyes at the same time.

I might not be remembering the exact intervals, but it seems like for the first two days she was putting eye drops in at least once an hour. Hearing that, it's probably easy for you to understand why she was trying to sleep and listen to audio books all day long.

Fortunately after a few days, the eye dropping was decreased to only a few times a day, and it was much more bearable.

Aside from the addition of eye dropping into her daily schedule, I think the hardest part of having this operation on her eyes done, was that she had to deal with the teasing of her younger brothers who thought it was fun to joke about how their sister had had surgery done so that she could have laser vision.

Personally, after witnessing my cousin's experience with Lasik in Austin, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who has less than perfect vision and is tired of dealing with glasses and contact lenses every day.
