subject: Seo Cycle - How Seo Works For Small Businesses [print this page]

Search engine optimization can be seen in three SEO cycle waves. For the first wave, put the content up. Then wave 2, do the video material from web 2.0. We'll do that for most sites without looking too much as what we're getting as a result of that because we know that it works. Then we let it sit for a month or two just to make sure that Google finds the links and everything starts to get spidered.

Then we review the analytics for easy wins and that's when I'm talking about, you look for what keywords have you started to rank for as a result of everything that you've done and looking for the keywords that are on first page and driving your traffic but not in position number 1.

The next step on how SEO works is you identify what those are and then you also send more links to the pages that you want to rank for. Once you've identified those easy wins, you might go back to some of the other stages and do a little bit more link building, really targeting it to those easy win type keywords.

You can also make sure that you funnel your page rank, your internal page rank. If you're building pages, write another few extra blog posts linking through to those pages that you want to have ranked. Send to high converting pages, pages not number 1 and also videos as well.

A lot of SEO cycle videos will, once we've uploaded them and we've done our on page optimization and we've done some embedding, we'll then go back and see which videos are most viewed. I'll go to my channel, I'll look at my most viewed videos, and then if they were submitted on the same day, I will say, this one seems to be doing well for some reason. I'll type it in, is it in position number 1? If it's in position number 1, don't worry about sending any more links to it. Oh, it's in position number 3, I'm going to go ahead and start doing some more link building.

At this stage 3, is when you want to start promoting the promoters. I would call all of those pages, hundred word posts, blog networks, second tier, EzineArticles, YouTube, web 2.0, they're all your promoting pages. So now in wave 3, start promoting your promoters. So go to your blog networks specifically, and start sending links. Start making posts that go only to your promoting pages.

In wave 1, two links go to your website, one will go to your home page and one will go to a deep page. When you go back to promote the promoters, all of the links will be going through to those promoting pages. So you'll link through to your videos, you'll link through to your EzineArticles and you can go really heavy on that. I mean there's a point at which you should take it a little bit easy if you follow my rules of thumb as far as the SEO cycle speed at which you should be building links.
