Europe is, without a doubt, both a beautiful and amazing place. The continent has several awe striking museums to behold. France, the United Kingdom and Germany are just a few countries in Europe to have beautiful works of art.

The European Museum Forum is a non-profit charity, founded in 1977. It is overseen by the Council of Europe. One thing the European Museum does is bestow the European Museum of the Year Award. This prestige goes to a museum that has either just opened, or has expanded. The museum must have had this accomplishment within the last two years in order to qualify for the award. The Gallo-Roman Museum in Belgium was the most recent recipient of this award.

The Louvre, located in Paris, France, is arguably the most famous museum in the world. It is home to world famous artwork, such as the Mona Lisa, Winged Victory, and Venus de Milo. These three works together are often referred to as The Big Three. The Louvre is a beautiful structure; it was a palace until the French Revolution.

The Vatican Museums, located in Rome, Italy, always has long lines to wait in. However, the pinnacle of the displays is the Sistine Chapel. Other items to check out while at the Vatican Museums would be their impressive display of telescopes and other tools to observe space.

In London, England, lies the British Museum. It is home to many archeological finds. Some of its claim to fame items includes marble from the Parthenon, Egyptian mummies, and the Rosetta Stone. Currently this museum has a special display of the Aztecs of Mexico.

Berlin, Germany, boasts the Museum Island. Although Berlin has over 150 museums, the Museum Island is home to five individual museums; there is surely something to please everyone. These museums hold everything from painting and sculptures, to vintage items.
