From the curb the front grille merges the Lancia logo and the horizontal bars into a single pattern. The chrome-plated finishes of the bars and the outline of the logo creates a contrast inside the frame which is also chrome-plated. The classic headlights with scalloped lower edge contain the innovative headlights with LED technology and the DRL (Daytime Running Light).

The profile of the new Thema is characterized by a high waistline, prominent front end and rear light clusters. The marked angle of the windscreen guarantees an aerodynamic effect while the slim pillars enable the driver to benefit from excellent visibility.

The rear end features a built-in spoiler with the Lancia logo sitting proudly below it in the centre and the two harmoniously designed LED tail lights are linked by a chrome-plated fascia. Crossed by the vertical tail light clusters, the rear band of the Thema is embellished by a trim that connects the elements of the rear lights. The two chrome-plated exhaust tail pipes reflect a feeling of performance.

The Thema's interiors are distinguished by soft touch materials, luxury interior trims with the option of heated seats in Nappa leather and a Poltrona Frau leather-clad dashboard, as well as real wood inserts on the centre console, panels, doors and steering wheel (in two-tone leather on the Executive version). The instrument panel of the new model is treated with cast skin techniques, making it similar to the leather, while the door panels with 3D double grain emphasize its aesthetic qualities and flexibility. The dashboard is enhanced by discreet chrome finishing and by a dashboard with innovative double cluster (circular elements) design featuring Sapphire Blue lighting, a color also used for the passenger compartment LED lighting. The front seats offer four-way lumbar adjustment with up/down and front/back direction actuators and density adjuster on the lower part of the seat, in the backrest and upholstery for greater comfort during the adjustment procedure.

The new Lancia Thema offers two different 6-cylinder engine versions, all with automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. The Pentastar V6 3.6 liter petrol engine delivers 286 HP, and has an 8-speed automatic transmission. The V6 3.0 liter diesel engine is available in two power levels: 190 HP and 239 HP, both with 5-speed automatic transmission.

The Pentastar V6 petrol engine designed by the Chrysler Group uses the most innovative technologies to comply with Euro 5 regulations that let it reach a power of 286 HP at 6,350 rpm with a maximum torque of 340 Nm at 4650 rpm. Its CO2 emissions are 219 g/km (combined cycle fuel consumption: 9.4 l/100 km). This equipment level allows the new Thema to achieve a top speed of 240 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds. This result is also partly thanks to the new automatic ZF 8-speed gearbox.

The Euro 5 diesel engine - built by VM Motori and developed together with Fiat Powertrain - delivers 190 HP at 4000 rpm and 239 HP at 4000 rpm. The new 3.0 V6 engine is equipped with 5-speed automatic transmission. The 239 HP version has a maximum torque of 550 Nm at 1800-2800 rpm, while the 190 HP version has a maximum torque of 440 Nm at 1600-2800 rpm. The CO2 emissions total 185 g/km and combined cycle fuel consumption is 7.1 l/100km for both versions. This equipment level allows the New Thema to achieve a top speed of 230 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds (239 HP) and 9.7 seconds (190 HP).

The Lancia Thema offers as standard Uconnect Touch, the infotelematic system boasting the biggest touchscreen in its class (8.4 inches), which keeps passengers connected with the outside world. The Uconnect Touch system controls the passenger compartment systems and guarantees an outstanding experience for driver and passengers alike, always in total comfort and safety, from the touchscreen satellite navigation system and dual-zone climate control. Lastly, starting from the Platinum trim level, the Lancia Thema offers the exclusive Garmin satellite navigation system as standard, which can be combined with a premium audio system with 9 speakers plus subwoofer for a total of 506 W of amplification (on request on the Platinum trim level, and standard on the Executive). Also available upon request on the Executive trim level is a Harmon Kardon sound system complete with 19 speakers plus subwoofer, supplying a total of 900 W of amplification.

The new Lancia Thema offers more than 70 advanced active and passive safety features, including the electronic stability system (ESC) fitted as standard with the exclusive Ready Alert Braking and Rain Brake Support devices. The first alerts the braking system when the accelerator is released to decrease intervention time and braking distance. The second goes into operation when the windscreen wipers are activated, removing water from the brake pads. To ensure maximum visibility, the Lancia Thema offers Xenon SmartbeamTM self-adaptive headlights as standard on Platinum and Executive versions.

On sale from October in all European dealerships, the Lancia Thema is available in three trim levels - Gold, Platinum and Executive - and with two engines: the 286 HP 3.6L V6 petrol engine with 8-speed automatic gearbox and new 190 HP and 239 HP 3.0L V6 diesel engines, with 5-speed automatic gearbox.

Overall, the LED lights are widely used most new cars such as LED Dome Lights, LED Daytime Running Lights, and will come out with even more innovation in the future.
