subject: Infiniti Used Cars- The G20 [print this page] Back in the 1990s Japanese luxury automakers were enrolling there new compact luxury models to North American consumers and trying to gain market share from leading European brands such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi. Infiniti used cars like the G20 was developed to compete against the BMW 3-series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Audi A4 which was no easy task considering these famous European brands had a firm grip in this segment of the auto industry. The Infiniti G20 was based on the Nissan Primera , a very popular and reliable vehicle that was designed for the Japanese and European markets. My research will be on the Infiniti G20 as a used vehicle to look at.
The Infiniti G20 is a luxury compact four door sedan. Some of the standard features that come with the G20 (from 1999 to 2002) are anti-lock all-disc brakes, front seatbelt pretensioners and side curtain airbags. There were two models to choose from, the base and a touring model. The Touring model had fog lights, rear spoiler, limited slip differential and the tires are slightly lower than the base model. The touring model also offered better fabric for its seats but leather upholstery was an option for both models.
There were only two fuel statistics I could find for the Infiniti G20 from 1999 to 2002. In 1999 the Infiniti G20 had a fuel rating of 10.9-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 7.6-litres, per 100km, for highway driving (this stat was for the automatic transmission). In 2002 the Infiniti G20 had a fuel rating of 10.2-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 7.1-litres, per 100km, for highway driving (this stat was for the automatic transmission). These stats were fairly high when you compare them to the Acura EL.
There were two different engine sizes from 1999 to 2002 for the G20. In 1999 the Infiniti G20 used the SR20DE four cylinder, 2.0-litre engine and this produced 140 horsepower. From 2000 to 2002 the G20 used the same engine but with an increase of five horsepower, giving it a total of 145hp.
Lets look at some of the pros and cons of the G20 as a used vehicle to look at:
1-It was given a good rating as a reliable vehicle by a leading online consumer watch dog.
2-There is problem with the power locks working by themselves.
3-There are no crash test results done to the G20 from 1999 to 2002.
I hope this helps if your thinking of buying Infiniti used cars like the G20.
