subject: Look At That Room First [print this page]

Staying in a hotel ought to be an enjoyable experience. You can do a lot in the way of making certain it is by doing your due diligence when it involves researching and choosing the room. Sure, you could just thoughtlessly choose a room, either by simply calling someplace you find in a random phone book or by placing a blind bid on some website, but your better than that.

You still may place that bid, but don't you want to know a little bit about what you are bidding for? They can tell you how many stars it got, but does that really translate into the kind of room or the kind of hotel that you want to stay in? Sometimes it probably works out for the best and you get a great room in a great hotel in a great location in the greatest part of town, but that isn't always the case.

What would be great is if you could see the room that you're bidding on, but that might make it too difficult for the websites and hotels to make happen. Blind bidding is never the greatest way to do it, but it has become commonplace. When bidding on a room, it would be nice to see the actual room and it would be even more awesome if they would show you the hotel as well. It's going towards this way of bidding, some sites are already doing it and they seem to be the ones that are getting more and more popular.

The point is, bidding is an awesome way to receive a great room at a great price, but you want to be sure it fits what you are looking for. That is why it's good when you can look at the different rooms, look at all the different amenities, strengths and weaknesses of the hotel and then compare them all at once without having to search all over the place for the information. It would even be great to add in some customer reviews, real testimonials of individuals that actually paid to stay in the places that you are looking at.

All of this information leads to better decision making, you can never have too much information when it comes to this sort of thing. The hotel room is the jumping off point for the vacation and if it's uncomfortable or unsatisfactory or in any way detracts from the vacation, then everything else suffers because of it.
