British Airways or BA is a UK based airline with its primary flights operating from London. BA has a South African franchise run by Comair "" which also operates the Kulula brand.

British Airways" branch in South Africa started off as an airline founded by World War II South African Air Force colleagues, incorporated on 17 December 1943 as Commercial Air Services. It initially focused on charter operations, commencing on 15 June 1946. Scheduled services between Rand Airport, Johannesburg and Durban began on 1 July 1948. As the airline grew over the decades, they had to expand to include services on major domestic routes using Boeing 737-200 aircraft. Their services also included a few international flights in Southern Africa. In 1996 a franchise agreement was signed with British Airways and in early 2000, BA acquired a minority holding. In 2007, Comair extended its franchise agreement with British Airways for a further eleven years.

Like SAA, British Airways" flights are fully serviced with on-flight meals, television/cinema for entertainment and an in-flight magazine, High Life. British Airways flights are rated four star with Skytrax. In South Africa, British Airways under Comair has a reputation of quality and passion for service, ensuring that this airline maintains its major role in South Africa.

BA Routes

BA offers 600 globe-spanning destinations to choose from. Covering all the major continents, BA routes across the world are made possible through international franchises and partnerships in codesharing and the Oneworld alliance. Together they provide an ever expanding network of routes, great customer service, a host of benefits and an easy and effective way to plan your trips without worrying too much about connections and timetables.

Experience almost every eminent and storied destination, and even some of the more obscure ones, on BA routes. BA routes tell the story of the world, from the ancient ruins of fallen empires to the evolving metropolises and cultural capitals of the world. Beach holidays in the tropics, winter skiing trips "" the world is literally your oyster.

Marrakech, Morocco is a longstanding favourite with BA passengers. Its close proximity and exotic appeal make it an enticing holiday destination for South Africans. Famed for its fragrant bazaars and bustling squares, the "red city" is where you can expect to find merchants, food sellers and entertainers of every ilk plying their trade. It"s probably best to avoid the scorching summer months and go between September and May when it"s a bit cooler. Be prepared, Marrakech is nothing less than a sensory onslaught. Learn to cook traditional Moroccan cuisine at half day workshops for an authentic Moroccan experience.

With Christmas looming, a family-oriented destination might be more appropriate. BA lists the Caribbean, Europe and North America as its current top places to treat the loved ones. Florida Disney World or Universal Studios Orlando are exhilarating day trips for children, while a day in the sand at Cocoa Beach or an outing to the Everglades National Park make for a more relaxing experience for adults.

With BA routes joining six continents, there"s nowhere the heart can dream that BA can"t take you to.
