So you would like to redecorate your house, or maybe just a room. Have you put much thought into the actual color and what it means? Colors have a way of influencing our feelings and moods believe it or not. It might be wise to research this before putting a brush full of paint to the walls.

Red color of love, energy, passion, lust, blood and war. Red is usually a good accent color because of its strength; stimulates a faster heartbeat and breathing.

Orange - bright and warm color; represents fire, the sun, fun, warmth and tropical images. It is considered a fun light color that has appetizing qualities to it; increases oxygen supply to the brain and stimulates mental activity; represents healthy food and stimulates appetite.

Yellow - represents youth, fun, happiness, sunshine and other light playful feelings. It is a cheerful energetic color.

Green a calming and refreshing color; the color of nature and health; represents growth, nature, money, fertility and safety. Green is a relaxing color that is easy on the eye and has a healing power to it.

Blue increases productivity; peaceful, tranquil; body will produce calming chemicals; a cool calming color that shows creativity and intelligence; represents loyalty, strength, wisdom and trust. Blue has a calming effect on the psyche.

Purple - associated with royalty, nobility and prestige; symbolizes mystery, magic, power and luxury. Purple is often used to portray rich powerful kings, leaders, wizards and magicians.

White - associated with being pure, clean, fresh and good.

Brown solid and reliable; color of earth

As you can see, the color you choose and even the shade in some instances will mean that you feel calm and relaxed or ready to start of fight! How many bedrooms do you know are red? It is not a likely color as it would not induce sleep. More likely you will find rooms a shade of purple or blue. How about making your guests feel relaxed and calm and ready to converse? Try a shade of green in your living room. Yellow is always a popular color for the kitchen and even childrens rooms as it is associated with so much positive energy and cheer.

There are so many shades of each color that the possibilities are almost endless! So if you want your house to be a home where your family feels happy, creative, and safe, and where guests feel relaxed and safe, put some thought into the color scheme you choose. Your home will become a haven that always rings with laughter and cheer.
