subject: Catch Up With Tiger Woods [print this page]

For most of this young century, and in the years leading up to it, Tiger Woods has been the world's best golfer. He transformed golf with a combination of power, touch and tenacious resolve.

His astonishing success, often accompanied by his signature fist pump after holing clutch shots, has even placed him on many people's short list of greatest American athletes, alongside figures like Babe Ruth and Michael Jordan.

But after a decade at the pinnacle of the sports world, a car accident in November 2009 set off a wave of revelations about his personal life. After a stint in rehab, three months later Woods admitted to repeated infidelities in a carefully orchestrated news conference, apologizing to his friends, family and colleagues, and acknowledged that he was in therapy.

On the course, he has yet to attain his prior dominance. He returned to golf for the 2010 Masters tournament ending the four-month hiatus that had shattered his image as the gold standard in celebrity sports. At an event that was part soap opera, part athletic event and part stage show, Woods did not play spectacularly, but he was welcomed by the crowd and finished tied for fourth, only five strokes behind the winner, Phil Mickelson.

In May 2011, Woods unexpectedly withdrew from the Players Championship because of nagging pain from his surgically repaired left knee due to knee and Achilles tendon injuries.

Three months later, he returned to competitive golf beginning the latest in a series of long-shot comebacks since 2009. Woods returned to the golf course wrapped in the intrigue and mystery that has enveloped many of his dealings.

In July 2011, Woods fired Steve Williams his longtime caddie and competitive soul mate. The choice of bagman was far from the only change. The same month, he also left the management company, IMG, that had represented him since he was 20. In 2010, he had already parted with his coach of six years, Hank Haney. He is also in the midst of absorbing a radical swing makeover.

The real long-range test for Woods will be whether he can re-establish himself as golfs premier player, something he was for most of his 15-year professional career.

Despite all the ups and downs in Woods life, we must admit that he is a legend in golf playing field. Do you want to be as successful as Woods? Then join us to improve your golf skill in the easiest way by using our product. All the helpers you can get on http://www.cheapgolfmart.com
