subject: Fashion Details Ss2012 [print this page]

As with many things the beauty of fashion is in the details. A crocheted back, a gold leaf hair piece, gem encrusted shoes - it's these details that make everything more beautiful, more desirable. With Fashion Weeks taking place all over the world there have been lots of spectacular details to admire over the past little while.

Dolce & Gabanna were showing their florals for Spring/Summer 2012. Reds, oranges, yellows, purples and greens were all splashed across, shorts, boustier-style tops, vests, dresses and mini-skirts. There were pieces that flowed and others that held their shape. If you're a woman wearing Dolce next summer you're sure to be stopping traffic with your colours.

Roberto Cavalli is all about the golds, blacks and sequins this year. The models looked like they'd just uncovered treasure walking up the run way, with pockets of bright colour poking through the gold and black details. His collection is a wonderful mix of rock and roll with feminine and glamorous touches. One of the best parts were the fabulously bold blazers and pant suits. He also incorporated a lot of animal prints - a fashion that seems to never go out of style.

Temperley London had some fabulous pieces at this year's London Fashion Week. The designs were more subtle in many ways, then D&G or Cavalli, focusing mostly on creams with hints of soft colour. The beauty of the items naturally came out in the details, the cuts and the lines. Teardrop shaped beads were woven into one floor-length dress, flower shaped beading work was embroidered into another see-through jumpsuit. There was one stunning peach coloured dress that looked almost vintage. With embroidered birds from the neck down to the thighs and solid coloured fabric continuing down to the floor.

L.A.M.B. is still exploring the fun ethnic, geometrical and animal prints this summer started to bring back. Focusing a lot of black and whites, greens and reds as well as jumpsuits, maxi dresses, mini skirts, tunics and hot jackets. Of all of the designers exhibiting their lines at this season's fashion weeks, L.A.M.B. has some of the most everyday wearable items. It is clear that they are targeting a more youthful, fun audience.

Men, I have not forgotten you. Prada is bringing back the paperboy hat and almost sailor look for Spring/Summer 2012. They are embracing a suit where the jacket and trousers are slightly off-colour and in some occasions pairing the trousers with a jacket that isn't a suit jacket at all, instead it is much more casual. They also are showing a lot of bright coloured trousers with polkadots, prints and other fun designs. They are showing scarves worn as ties, bags and for some extra fun, tie clips.
