subject: Two Tips For Selling Your Home Fast [print this page] The fact is that you may already know people who would be interested in buying your house. Whenever I get ready to find prospects to buy my house I sit down and think about people I already know because I often come up with a sizeable list. Of course I have an advantage because I know a lot of people in my area since I've lived here in Oklahoma City my whole life. But I also have an advantage because I am a real estate investor and well acquainted with other investors who buy and sell houses as a business like I do.
But the things that give me an advantage can work for you, too. They can give you a real advantage if you're willing to invest some time into finding your own buyers. It doesn't matter whether you've listed your house with a real estate broker or not, you still need to hear my two top tips for finding people to buy my house whenever I have a house for sale. There are things you will need to consider doing yourself in order to find a buyer in the current marketplace.
The first thing you can do is make a list of all the people you know who have visited your house and mentioned that they would like to live in your neighborhood. When I'm making this kind of list for myself I also write down the names of each person's friends and relatives who might want to buy my house. Take note of that second part, the part where I mentioned friends and relatives of people you know who might be interested.
It's not just the people I already know that matter, it's the other people they know, their own friends and family that may turn out to buy my house. I make lists like this regularly since I am an investor and buy and sell a lot of houses. The truth is, I carry these lists around in my head because it's part of my business. But using a pen and the pad of paper to make your list is really important when you are selling your own home.
My second tip is just common sense, really. It's the logical thing to do next, after you make your list, but maybe it's so logical that it's easy to overlook. Sadly, a lot of sellers think their broker is going to do this task on their behalf, but it rarely happens. My second tip involves getting on the phone and calling people. That's right, call those people on your list and ask them if they or any of their friends or family would be interested in buying your house. Don't be shy, just try it.
People don't really mind receiving these calls. Whenever I want to find someone to buy my house I pick up the phone and give my list a call, and I also call other investors I know. Just know that if the people on your list aren't interested in buying your house, they may still give you names and contact info for other people.
