subject: Trx Review [print this page] TRX Review What Is This Tennis Training Aid?
The TRX is suspension trainer made out of nylon straps. This 2 pound functional training system was developed by Navy Seals. This tennis training aid allows you to do hundreds of exercises in the comfort of your own home or in your hotel room.
Essentially, you anchor one end of the straps to a wall, ceiling, or pull-up bar, and then you perform a variety of body weight exercises. The exercises include squats, lunges, chest presses, back rows, shoulder raises, bicep curls, tricep presses, and various core exercises. It is a very versatile tennis training aid!
TRX Review- Here's What I Like
In general, I'm a big fan of the suspension trainer. Here is my specific feedback:
I love resistance training, so if you like to feel your muscles get hard after a good workoutthis tennis training aid is for you!
It's small, compact, and lightso you can travel with itwhich is nice especially around the holidays.
It is extremely well made, and I'm hard on equipment.
It is a very flexible, functional training system. You can do hundreds of exercises with this system.
For sports specific training, you can buy DVDs from TRX that are well made.
There's tons of free videos on YouTube to learn new exercises.
TRX Review What I Don't Like
My concerns with TRX Suspension Trainer are the following:
1.The basic pack does not come with an anchor device. You will need to either purchase a door anchor or wall mount.
2.The exercise manual I received with my trainer is a bit thin. I understand they have beefed it up to 36 pages, which is 3x larger than my workout guide.
3.This tennis training aid ain't cheap! At $190 it is equal to roughly 2-3 months at a gym.
TRX Review Overall Thoughts
If you are a tennis player that likes to do resistance training, I highly recommend the TRX Suspension Trainer as a tennis training aid. It is small, compact, and light gym in a bag. It will not replace the speed and endurance work you need to do for tennis training, but it is a great part of a comprehensive tennis workout program.
