subject: Customers No Longer Need A Long Contract For The Iphone 4s [print this page]

The release of the iPhone 4S has seen a variety of mobile service providers in the UK coming up with all kinds of attractive packages in order to tempt customers. The biggest problem with most of these is that the customer is tied to an 18 or 24 month contract which is a long time in the ever changing world of mobile phones, especially with an iPhone 5 likely for release next year.

One of the UK service providers, Vodafone, is offering customers the chance to get their hands on a brand new iPhone 4S on an attractive 12 month contract. The downside to such a short contract is that the initial cost of the handset is much higher than you would expect to pay on an 18 or 24 month contract length. For the 16GB version of the device you would need to find a minimum of 139. What this gets you in terms of allowances is 1200 minutes of talktime together with an unlimited SMS allowance. Perhaps more vital than both of these is the data allowance given with a modern phone. With a number of applications enabling users to make calls and send messages over a data connection a larger number of users are finding that their monthly talktime and text allowances are less important. This package from Vodafone includes 750MB allowance which is the largest offered on such a short contract. The monthly cost of this deal is 51 per month which is comparable to what an 18 Month contract set you back when the original iPhone 4 was released.

As we previously mentioned the data allowance part of a contract has become very important especially with a handsets like the iPhone 4S. The older fashioned mobile phone only ever need to make calls or send texts so the talktime and SMS allowances were vital. The huge processing power available on this phone together with the excellent connectivity options enables thousands of applications to be developed that benefit from a large data package. Some of these applications such as Viber and Whatsapp enable the user to communicate with friends over the internet and thus bypass call costs. The boom in social networking also means that the majority of users will use their phones to access sites such as Facebook and Twitter which would all eat into the users data quota if they are not connected to WiFi at the time.

The package offered by Vodafone for the iPhone 4S allows consumers to get their hands on this great phone for a reasonable cost but still enable them to upgrade as early as next year should a new phone be introduced. The large data allowance that is on offer also allows users to take full advantage of a huge number of applications that are available on from the online Apple store.
