subject: Working From Home.. Creating Your Office! [print this page]

Many Technology (IT & software) professionals are actively working from home. Jobs such as SEO, e-commerce, equity brokering, online ticketing, web portal management, can be easily done from your own home.

The advantages are many:

No commute: Everyones dream (& every wifes nightmare!). Wake up & you are in the office

Flexi hours: Work can be spaced as desired. Feel like taking a nap, fine!

Nearer to family: Always feel like you are away when the most important events in your childs live are happening? No more!

Unlimited potential: Work as much as you want & unlock your full potential.

However, before you jump into a decision to work from home, we have to decide on the most important, but neglected aspect: SPACE.

Though you may have a good sized flat/apartment, how do you go about creating a much needed quite & private space? In our already cramped flats, there is bare enough room to breathe easily. Further if all the family members are forced to navigate around your office equipment, then no one will be happy.

Also, you run the risk of accidental damage, misplacing papers (your work schedule might end up along with some old newspapers as junk), or the worst case, someone might get hurt.

So, it is must, before you decide to work at home, to arrange an office space within your home which is secluded, private & to a large extent sound proofed.

In this article, we are going to show you how to achieve a quite & streamline office space that you can comfortably work in & in the next instant can be with the family. What could be a better alternative right?

Location within your Home:

Make sure you choose a corner with a view or at least a window. Do not plan to use the Balcony to setup your office thinking that you will be amongst nature while working. This may be a very good fantasy & seems like an absolutely great idea as it will not encroach upon carpet area of your flat. However, please note, your family members too, require the balcony just as much as you do. Further, you run the risk of Natural elements ruining your papers & equipment. Birds are a known menace & rain might put an end to your computers active life.

Decided on the space, now create an office

The simplest way to create a space is to use Blinds to create a Temporary partition. But, wait, you will instantly think blinds are boring with their standard color patterns. Well, they need not be. As, recently, a new concept of personalized blinds is steadily gaining acceptance. You can literally create your own blinds. Design, patterns, images etc. Imagine a partition with an image of a calm lake, a deep blue sea, a clear blue sky, a jungle. The possibilities with these Photo Blinds are endless!
