subject: Sprint Has Decided To Limit 5gb Hotspot Plans Ahead Of Iphone 4gs Launch [print this page]

Sprint seems to be gearing up for what it says will probably be a mobile revolution when the iPhone 4GS is finally launched later this year. However, in anticipation of its launch Sprint has decided to limit 5GB hotspot plans for some odd reason. We know that Spring will be one of the carriers in the US offering iPhone 4GS on contract when it launches along with Verizon and AT&T. There are signs that Sprint is preparing for the launch but the fact is even they do not know if it will launch for sure!

The first thing that Sprint this earlier this year is to jack up the early termination fees and also later killed the Premier Upgrade program and also changed its return policy. This probably means that your current iPhone cannot be exchanged with iPhone 4GS which launches in a few weeks. Now if you thought that this was a slap in the face for all of Sprints users Sprint has decided to limit mobile hotspot plans (regardless of what you have) to just 5GB, according to SprintFeeds report. The report also states that tablets and other types of devices are exempt from this ban (if you want to call it that) which makes us suspicious as to what Sprint is trying to do.

Unlimited Data plans for iPhone 4GS

There are rumors that Sprint may probably offer iPhone customers unlimited data pans in order to compete with the likes of Verizon and AT&T but with limiting its hotspots to 5GB of data transfer seems to be the wrong move. As a matter of fact by introducing such a thing they are just encouraging users to use a jailbroken phone or app such as MyWi to tether their phones unofficially. People who want to purchase the iPhone 4GS from Sprint better think twice since now we have seen what they are capable of doing and there is no telling what they may do a few months after the launch once the iPhone 4GS ahs properly penetrated the US market.

Data in short supply

There was a report which was published a while back that said that all this 3G technology and high speed data transfers are something that ISPs and cell phone operators such as Sprint are unable to handle. The sheer amount of data being transferred are terabits a second and existing networks are unable to handle the load, hence people experience slowdowns in speed and often a other issues associated with their connection.

Cell phone providers such as Sprint need to either upgrade their systems or they may already be in the process of doing so to accommodate the rush of new the new iPhones which it the market. However, people are advised to do business with Sprint only if they offer something that no other provider is offering, otherwise you are taking a big risk which is all for nothing.
