subject: The Joys Of Having An Electric Bike [print this page]

Although they have been around since the 1800s, electric bikes have surged in use and sales in recent years. This is mainly due to the high cost of gas and environmental concerns. These bikes are often high tech and can cost as much as $3000. Their batteries can run for a significant amount of time. Unlike electric cars, these bikes do not need a special outlet.

They have the feel of a bike but hills become easy to navigate so it takes most of the work away. In addition, riding into the wind becomes less of a chore. You do not even have to pedal that much if you choose not to; let the bike do the work. If you are out of shape or have had to give up bike riding with the family due to a disability, then an electric bike is a good choice. You do not have to be left out of the family outing.

Bikes are fun. Remember as kids when we could not wait to get on our bikes it gave us freedom and mobility. When we were old enough to drive a car, we forgot the bike. However, what is so fun about driving a car (convertibles notwithstanding). There are no times to beat, unless you like tickets. Shortcuts are not as fun, cutting through parking lots or driving past cars on the shoulder of the road is unacceptable in a car.

There are many advantages to bikes. They do not give off fumes. Parking becomes less of a hassle; you essentially need a pole and a good lock. Some buildings will even let you bring the bike inside. If it rains or you are just too tired, you can just jump on the bus with the bike. There are even electric bikes that fold. Unbelievably, bikes can save time, especially if you are driving in an urban area. You can avoid most traffic lights. In addition, whoever heard of a traffic jam of bikes? Backing up is no longer a chore, just get off and turn it around.

Best of all you do not need a license to operate the bike, no registration is required and no inspection is needed. In addition, insurance is not needed although you may want a rider on your homeowners policy.

In conclusion, consider getting an electric bike they are both fun and convenient methods of transportation.
