It is internationally recognized and has trained more than 600 students that are now professional designers in companies and design studios of repute worldwide. Today, the school has brought to Pune, India its experience and international network in the industry, in the form of DSK International School of Design (ISD).
The courses at DSK ISD are divided into 2 levels: Foundation, where students learn the basics of the profession and Advanced, where they are taught to master the latest techniques and processes in terms of designing. The aim of the three year long Industrial Design course is to master the industrial design process. Students are asked, in the very first year, to choose a specialization from; Product Design, transportation design and Digital Design.
In the advance course, the students also start working as teams on industrial projects in close co ordnance with local and foreign companies. An internship program is included during the advanced course, with two 6 month internship in the industry to be completed, because creating a synergy between the students and professionals is vital in the early stages.
At DSK ISD, students in the 4th year (1st semester) and students in the 5th year (2nd semester) have to undergo two 6 months internships, respectively. Hence, our students already gain more than one year of professional experience by the time they graduate! During each of these two internships, students get valuable time to understand and work on real projects with the support of professional designers.
One of the distinctive features of the design courses is Masterclasses comprising one week of intensive workshop on product, transportation and digital design by renowned design experts from all over the world All our internships, abroad and in India, are paid internships by the respective companies.
The highlight of the campus is that the academics are controlled by the French Institute to keep up the same quality standards of education followed by the French Institute. All the trainers employed here are full time trainers from France and Europe. The trainers are not academicians; however they hold Industry affluent experience. Till date the French Institute has attained a proven track record of 100% placements. The reason behind is the strong line between the academics and the industry. The interface is achieved via live projects and the internships in reputed multinational companies. Most of the students get placed during their internships which are treated as a pre job employment. All other students have the placement opportunities during the showcase of their final year projects to the jury members who are the employers of the multinational companies.
There is a frequent internal evaluation during the course term. The students are awarded certificate on the basis of the internal assessment and the final year project evaluation by the jury members. The certificate is accredited by National Commission for Professional Certification (CNCP), France. CNCP is directly under the regulation of the office of Prime Minister. The certificate awarded is acknowledged by the companies worldwide as a masters degree.
