What are the reasons why rhinoplasty became a popular cosmetic surgery in many Asian countries, particularly in the Philippines? Part of the reason why rhinoplasty became popular in the Philippines is because of western influences as well as other Asian influences in terms of physical appearances.

Influence in Beauty and in Cosmetics

Although Philippines is not the only country known to have been influenced by the west in terms of beauty and in cosmetics, the Philippines is the only one that truly strived to perfect their rhinoplasty and other cosmetic surgery manila to provide Filipinos their needs to enhance their physical appearance. A popular example of such influence is their noses.

Because most Filipino noses are known to be flatter and are wider compared to western noses, which are narrower and are elevated, many Filipinos have undergone the procedure of improving their noses through cosmetic surgery, which is known as rhinoplasty or more popularly known as nose lift.

Rhinoplasty as a Reconstructive Surgery

Before rhinoplasty was known as a cosmetic surgery, the procedure was first known as reconstructive surgery which was first performed in India by the father of modern surgery, Sushruta.

It was first used as a means for correcting and reconstructing the form, restoring the functions, and aesthetically enhancing the nose, by resolving nasal trauma (blunt, penetrating, blast), congenital defect, as well as those affected by several different respiratory impediments.

However, because of its enhancing capabilities, rhinoplasty became even more popular and in-demand as a form of cosmetic surgery which was now known as nose job or nose lift.

Other than from the western hemisphere, rhinoplasty had also become a popular procedure in many Asian countries; particularly in the Philippines in which the procedure had become a popular method in enhance a Filipinos facial appearance.

Difference from Western Rhinoplasty

Because most nose lift Philippines involve elevating the nose, it the procedure usually involves the use of implants. A popular material used as implant in rhinoplasty in the Philippines is Gore-Tex.

Gore-Tex is a popular material normally used for rainwear. However, the material was also used in many medical procedures, such as for medical prosthesis for replacing torn anterior cruciate ligament and posterior cruciate ligament.

Philippine rhinoplasty had also used the material, and many recognized medical and cosmetic surgery groups in the Philippines today make use of this material in nose lifts, such as ENHANCEMENTS.
