subject: How To Make Christmas Candy Recipes - Part 1 [print this page] Christmas candy Recipes are a big part of any Christmas celebration. Candies are symbolic of Christmas and you'll be sure to see them everywhere in stores as the holiday season approaches. If you want to get your hands on some though, why not try making them yourself? Christmas candies are easier to make and can be just as delicious as the ones you find at your local supermarket. In this first recipe we will learn how to make Amish Caramel Corn.
Step One - Preheat Oven
Before you do anything, preheat your oven at 250 Fahrenheit for a few minutes. In the meantime, open two to four large packets of unsweetened popcorn into your baking pan or saucepan. Make sure you use a pan that is large enough to cover all the popcorn. The idea here is to ensure a large surface area for baking. If your pan is too small, don't be afraid to add another.
Step Two - Prepare Flavorings
Use another saucepan and add 1 cup of margarine, cup of corn syrup, 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 cups of brown sugar. Stir it a little before setting it to a boil. As you are boiling it, continue your stirring until homogeneity. Boil for about 4-5 min and then switch off your heat.
Step Three - Coat your Corn
Pour in 1 teaspoon of vanilla and teaspoon of baking soda. Again, stir it well so it that it blends into the mixture. Once the mixture is ready, it should appear thin and foamy. At this time, you should quickly add your popcorn into the mix and stir hard to coat the corn.
Step Four - Bake It
Leave your coated corn to bake at 250 Fahrenheit for about 50 minutes. Remove from oven and stir up again every 10 minutes or so. When you think it's ready, drop the corn on a tray laid with baking paper and separate the pieces so they don't clump. Leave to cool fully and you are now ready to feast on your corn!
