subject: Use The Local Paper To Sell Your Home Faster [print this page]

Posting classified ads online works quite well for me, and I'm suggesting that you might want to try it yourself when you sell a home. My secret is to describe my home in great detail. I am not looking for dozens of buyers, I'm really only looking for one. When the right person reads my classified ad she will become very curious and most likely she'll want to contact me right away. This article contains my suggestions for writing attractive classified ads simply, nothing fancy at all. The first thing you need is the right mind set, and then you'll find the writing itself comes easily.

Let me set the stage for you now. Imagine I'm preparing to sell a home and I get nostalgic for a few minutes, remembering back to the day I first saw it. I can even remember how I felt about it that day. Can you see how I can regain enthusiasm for my home when I think back and remember how I felt about it at first? That's the mind set I want to achieve before sitting down to write my classified ad to post online.

How about giving it a try to see how my secret method works for you, too. .. Imagine that you're seeing your home for the first time right now. In your mind's eye take a tour through your home and take note of everything you like about it. Write down what you're seeing and remembering because those are the features you'll want to mention in your classified ad. Feel free to repeat this exercise to get more inspiration, because you'll be talking to people about it, too. You'll want to keep your enthusiastic mindset in order to market your home successfully. These examples of things I remember:

1. Built-in book shelves in the family room

2. Extra deep kitchen drawers and cabinets

3. Fun neighborhood

4. Lovely landscaping

5. Flagstone patio and shaded deck just outside the kitchen door

Now, here's a writing tip to use once you have made your list. Write out your descriptions in simple sentences just the way you would write them in a letter or an email to a friend. Pretend you are enthusiastically describing the home just as you would describe it back when you were eager to buy it. This is the key to success in writing your classified ad when you want to sell a home.

I usually write until I've exhausted every possible thing I can think to say, and then I take a break. When I come back to my writing, that's when I start eliminating excess words and turn each sentence into a juicy capsule of information to attract my buyer. This format works well for me when I create my online classified ads.
