How many scanned docs will fit on one CD Rom?
This varies according to what's on the documents that are scanned. As a rough estimate, though, you can get around 30,000 scanned A4 sheets onto a CD Rom.
What paper sizes can be scanned?
Any size of paper is suitable for document scanning. This includes something as small as a receipt or as large as drawings of up to 36 inches.
Black and white, greyscale and colour documents can all be scanned, including photographs.
What kind of file will be documents be supplied in?
Usually TIF or PDF files will be supplied. TIF is the most basic and cheaper option. PDF files have more functionality such as searching for keywords, bookmarking, hyperlinking, adding security and more. If you just want a document archive TIF is fine, but if you need the additional functionality, PDF is best. A scanning specialist will be able to assess your needs.

How will I view and find the scanned documents?
You'll receive a database system so that you can search for the documents using specific search fields, for example a name or invoice number.
Do I need to take documents out of folders and remove the staples?
No, a good scanning services company will do this for you and also put the files back together again afterwards if necessary.
What happens to the documents after they've been scanned?
If you want the documents back, they can be couriered to you securely. If not, a scanning services company will be able to shred them for you. You should be issued with a disposal certificate (accredited by British Standards).
Can I capture data from forms?
Yes, these types of documents can be scanned and the information automatically captured it is much more efficient than data entry.
Hand-written papers can also be scanned but for ultimate accuracy some data may need to be keyed in.
Is it accurate?
Data scanning is very accurate and much more accurate than manual inputting. Data that has been inputted manually is always double-checked to make sure that it's correct.
